T-shirts are so inexpensive that they're practically disposable, and the amount of textile waste generated by today's fast-fashion trends is astonishing. That's where Surian's craft ideas come in. By turning T-shirts into skeins of recycled yarn or reusing the fabric via a series of clever cuts, crafters can refashion their worn-out clothing into a variety of accessories and items for the home. The projects are a solid mix of fun and functional, and most can be completed in an hour or less, requiring few, if any, specialized tools or notions. Plenty of photographs get beginners past the trickier steps, and there's enough diversity to please a wide range of crafters, from tweens and teens seeking funky accessories to adults with more sophisticated tastes. Crafters interested in giftable items will discover a plethora of fun ideas here as well. VERDICT Creative reuse continues to be a popular theme for craft books, and given the ubiquity of T-shirts, crafters won't need to look far for the raw materials to make any of the projects in this collection.
