Experience magical shifts in your life by redesigning your living space.
Home can be a space to explore your sense of self, a message board to cue your aspirational goals, and a story where you choose which parts of your past to put down and which to carry. In Find Yourself at Home, design journalist and interiors consultant Emily Grosvenor introduces her five steps to align your home to suit your purpose and your path:

PHILOSOPHY: Connect with the mystery and power of your home
SPACE: Prepare your environment for your story
BUILD: Discover design tools to cue your behavior
DESIRE: Bring your aspirations into your space
DESTINY: Take your purpose into the world

Drawing on ancient wisdom and modern science, along with examples from Grosvenor's groundbreaking research and work with clients, Find Yourself at Home is a philosophical and practical guide to making spatial shifts that will help you cultivate a more meaningful life by shaping your space so it shapes you back.
GREAT GIFT FOR HOME DÉCOR MAKEOVER AND FENG SHUI FANS: This is a great gift for people who are looking to rejuvenate their homes, and for those who love home makeover shows, marathoning HGTV shows, and bringing spiritualism and philosophy into their daily lives.
A FRESH TAKE ON HOME DESIGN: Many of us have decluttered, home-edited our pantries, tried minimalism, made our homes hygge, and chosen things that 'sparked joy.' Now it's time to shape our homes to reflect who we want to be and our purpose, to make every room align with the behaviors we want to create. This is for readers who are recognizing that our homes have become more than places to rest: they are places for mystery, self-discovery, and empowerment.

FOR READERS WORKING FROM HOME/STARTING NEW CAREERS: For many of us, our homes are now also our offices. This is the perfect guide for anyone wanting to bring more of their aspirations, such as focus, creativity, and purpose, into their workspaces.

Home as therapeutics: writer and home consultant Grosvenor mixes a bit of Marie Kondo, traditional design principles, and a heightened form of feng shui to enable readers to make the words at home a reality. Heavy philosophical thoughts introduce her main thesis: that home presents a power to be harnessed by the owner. Each chapter subtly builds on that theme. ""Space,"" for example, addresses the home's history and its possible influences inside. ""Objects"" concentrates on evaluating possessions from a range of viewpoints, like usefulness, beauty, and hopefulness. ""Desire"" examines feng shui's bagua, an energy map that identifies both good and not-so-good forces. Sidebars as well as the main text capture more practical information about design: choosing your texture vibe (furry, smooth, shiny, matte), an introvert-extrovert personality quiz, collections and how to display them, and more. Reflective questions close each chapter, the answers to which will help shape a reader's home inside and out. This photoless yet delightfully illustrated tome is a thinking person's guide to creating a home.

Oregon Home magazine editor Grosvenor is a certified feng shui consultant. She utilizes her background to focus on making home designs align with achieving one's desired life. The author acknowledges that COVID led to a shift in people's relationships with their homes, but some readers might appreciate a deeper exploration of this topic. The book occasionally mentions people living in multipurpose spaces by necessity, but it places a much bigger emphasis on places big enough for its occupants to have separate spaces. These type of spots, the book stresses, can help define how people feel when they are in them. Much of the design advice--viewing home-care as self-care, focusing on reducing clutter, and choosing items based on the feelings they evoke--doesn't seem new. This book focuses on blending environmental psychology theories and strategies with the practices of feng shui. This work's best quality is that it details how feng shui can help readers manifest the things that they are looking for in life. VERDICT While much of the design advice feels familiar, readers with an interest in feng shui will likely enjoy this book.--Carrie Byrd
